In May alone, some 65,000 Americans will experience a stroke with many unaware that they were even at risk. In fact, every forty seconds someone in the United States has a stroke. Less than a third will arrive in the emergency room within three hours, the optimal time period for better outcomes. As part of stroke month, and as Lower Keys Medical Center moves towards primary stroke center certification, our institution will begin to offer stroke support groups. The first stroke support group will be held on May 24, 2019 Lower Keys Medical Center boardroom from 2pm-3pm. Moving forward the stroke support meetings will be the last Tuesday of each month from 2pm-3pm in the boardroom.
